Is elastic scattering at the LHC absorptive or geometric?
S.M. Troshin, N.E. Tyurin

TL;DR
This paper explores whether elastic scattering at the LHC is primarily absorptive or geometric by analyzing impact-parameter dependent quantities and experimental data to gain insights into asymptotic behavior.
Contribution
It introduces a framework for using impact-parameter dependent quantities with LHC data to distinguish between absorptive and geometric scattering.
Findings
Impact-parameter analysis provides new insights into scattering nature.
Experimental data can help determine asymptotic scattering regimes.
The study suggests potential for clarifying scattering mechanisms at high energies.
Abstract
We discuss the role of the impact--parameter dependent quantities. Their use along with the available experimental data on elastic scattering at the LHC could serve for an additional insight into the asymptotics.
