Energy Diffusion in Harmonic System with Conservative Noise
Giada Basile, Stefano Olla (CEREMADE)

TL;DR
This paper proves that energy fluctuations in a harmonic oscillator system with conservative noise exhibit diffusive behavior, specifically in pinned systems or higher dimensions where thermal diffusivity is finite.
Contribution
It establishes the diffusive nature of energy fluctuations in harmonic systems with energy and momentum conserving stochastic perturbations, extending understanding in higher dimensions.
Findings
Energy fluctuations are diffusive in the studied system.
Thermal diffusivity is finite in pinned systems or for lattice dimension d≥3.
The results apply to systems with stochastic perturbations conserving energy and momentum.
Abstract
We prove diffusive behaviour of the energy fluctuations in a system of harmonic oscillators with a stochastic perturbation of the dynamics that conserves energy and momentum. The results concern pinned systems or lattice dimension , where the thermal diffusivity is finite.
