Charm quark mass dependence in the CTEQ NNLO global QCD analysis
Jun Gao, Marco Guzzi, Pavel M. Nadolsky

TL;DR
This paper examines how the charm quark mass influences the determination of proton parton distribution functions in a high-precision NNLO QCD analysis, providing a refined measurement consistent with world averages.
Contribution
It presents a novel extraction of the charm quark mass within the CTEQ NNLO framework using the S-ACOT-χ scheme, incorporating recent HERA data and systematic uncertainties.
Findings
Charm quark mass $m_c(m_c)$ agrees with world-average values.
HERA semiinclusive charm data significantly impact $m_c(m_c)$ determination.
Systematic uncertainties are thoroughly reviewed.
Abstract
We discuss the impact of the charm quark mass in the CTEQ NNLO global analysis of parton distribution functions of the proton. The mass of the charm quark is extracted in the S-ACOT- heavy-quark factorization scheme at accuracy and found to be in agreement with the world-average value. Impact on of combined HERA-1 data on semiinclusive charm production at HERA collider and contributing systematic uncertainties are reviewed.
