TL;DR
This paper reports on searches for specific B meson decays into J/psi and proton-antiproton pairs, finding a possible signal for B_s decay and setting new upper limits for others, advancing understanding of rare decay processes.
Contribution
First search for B_s decay into J/psi and proton-antiproton pairs with a 2.8 sigma hint, and improved limits for other related decays using LHCb data.
Findings
Evidence for B_s → J/psi p p̄ decay with 2.8 sigma significance.
Upper limit on B_s → J/psi p p̄ branching fraction set at 4.8×10^{-6}.
New upper limits established for B^0 and B^+ decay modes.
Abstract
The results of searches for and decays are reported. The analysis is based on a data sample, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 1.0 fb of collisions, collected with the LHCb detector. An excess with 2.8 significance is seen for the decay and an upper limit on the branching fraction is set at the 90 % confidence level: , which is the first such limit. No significant signals are seen for and decays, for which the corresponding limits are set: , which significantly improves the existing limit; and…
