Li Tianjun, Wan Xia, Wang You-kai, Zhu Shou-hua

TL;DR
This paper proposes a method to distinguish between color octet and singlet particles mediating top quark pair production using color flow analysis, providing a new way to test explanations for the top quark asymmetry at the LHC.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of the color flow method to differentiate mediating particles in top quark production, enabling indirect testing of asymmetry explanations at the LHC.
Findings
Color flow method can distinguish octet from singlet mediators.
The approach allows indirect cross-checking of top quark asymmetry models.
First demonstration of this method's applicability at the LHC.
Abstract
The excess in top quark forward-backward asymmetry has been a hot topic in recent years. Although there are many proposals to explain it, most of them can not fit the differential distributions well. The color octet axial-vector like particle, with mass near the top quark pair threshold, is still a good description of the differential distributions. We study how to distinguish the color singlet and octet mediating particles in top quark pair production by adopting the color flow method. For the first time, we show that such a proposal for the froward-backward asymmetry can be cross-checked indirectly at the LHC.
