W. Sreethawong, K. Xu, Y. Yan

TL;DR
This study evaluates the decay widths of the $X(3940)$ assuming it is a charmonium state using the $^3P_0$ model, and finds it unlikely to be a $car c$ meson based on the results.
Contribution
It demonstrates that the $X(3940)$ cannot be easily explained as a $car c$ state within the potential quark model and $^3P_0$ dynamics.
Findings
Unable to fit $X(3940)$ as a $car c$ meson
Model parameters fixed by other reactions
Challenges to the charmonium interpretation of $X(3940)$
Abstract
Partial decay widths of the are evaluated in the quark model, assuming a charmonium scenario for its structure. In the study all model parameters are predetermined by other reactions. The work reveals that it is difficult to accommodate the with any meson state in the picture of the potential quark model plus the quark dynamics.
