Flavor Dependence of Meson Melting Temperature in Relativistic Potential Model
Shuzhe Shi, Xingyu Guo, Pengfei Zhuang

TL;DR
This paper investigates how the melting temperatures of different heavy mesons depend on flavor in a hot medium, revealing a sequential melting pattern that explains observed differences in meson elliptic flow.
Contribution
It introduces a covariant Schrödinger equation approach at finite temperature to analyze flavor-dependent meson melting temperatures.
Findings
D and φ mesons melt at similar lower temperatures.
J/ψ meson melts at a higher temperature.
Sequential melting explains meson elliptic flow differences.
Abstract
We study the melting temperature of heavy mesons in the hot medium of light quarks. By solving the covariant Schr\"odinger equations at finite temperature for mesons , and , we obtained the temperature dependence of their masses, binding energies and averaged sizes and found the flavor dependence of the melting temperature: . The sequential melting temperature can explain the difference in meson elliptic flow observed in heavy ion collisions.
