Interaction of light with gravitational waves
Shahen Hacyan

TL;DR
This paper analyzes how electromagnetic waves interact with gravitational plane waves, deriving formulas for light polarization changes and explicitly examining the case of constant amplitude gravitational waves.
Contribution
It provides new closed-form formulas for light polarization in gravitational wave backgrounds and explicitly solves for constant amplitude gravitational waves.
Findings
Formulas for Stokes parameters in gravitational wave backgrounds
Explicit solution for constant amplitude gravitational waves
Insights into electromagnetic wave behavior in curved spacetime
Abstract
The physical properties of electromagnetic waves in the presence of a gravitational plane wave are analyzed. Formulas for the Stokes parameters describing the polarization of light are obtained in closed form. The particular case of a constant amplitude gravitational wave is worked out explicitly.
