Tetsuji Kimura, Shin Sasaki

TL;DR
This paper investigates how worldsheet instanton effects alter the geometry of the exotic 522-brane in type II string theory, revealing that these modifications are linked to localization in the T-dual winding direction.
Contribution
It demonstrates the impact of BPS vortices in the gauged linear sigma model on the 522-brane geometry, highlighting the role of T-duality and localization effects.
Findings
Worldsheet instantons modify 522-brane geometry.
Localization occurs in the T-dual winding direction.
BPS vortices are key to understanding geometric corrections.
Abstract
We study worldsheet instanton corrections to the exotic 522-brane geometry in type II string theory. The BPS vortices in the N=(4,4) gauged linear sigma model modify the geometry of the 522-brane. We find that the modification of the geometry is understood by the localization in the T-dualized winding direction.
