The electromagnetic spike solutions
Ernesto Nungesser, Woei Chet Lim

TL;DR
This paper derives explicit electromagnetic spike solutions in polarized Gowdy spacetimes by leveraging their relation to vacuum Gowdy spacetimes, introducing new inhomogeneous solutions called EME and MEM.
Contribution
It introduces a novel method to find electromagnetic spike solutions using the relation between polarized electromagnetic and vacuum Gowdy spacetimes, resulting in new explicit inhomogeneous solutions.
Findings
Derived explicit electromagnetic spike solutions
Introduced EME and MEM inhomogeneous solutions
Extended the method for gravitational spikes to electromagnetic cases
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to use the existing relation between polarized electromagnetic Gowdy spacetimes and vacuum Gowdy spacetimes to find explicit solutions for electromagnetic spikes by a procedure which has been developed by one of the authors for gravitational spikes. We present new inhomogeneous solutions which we call the EME and MEM electromagnetic spike solutions.
