Incoherent $J/\psi$ electroproduction from the deuteron at JLab energies and the elastic $J/\psi$-nucleon scattering amplitude
Gary T. Howell, Gerald A. Miller

TL;DR
This paper investigates the feasibility of measuring the $J/eta$-nucleon scattering amplitude through incoherent $J/eta$ electroproduction from the deuteron at JLab energies, considering rescattering effects.
Contribution
It provides a detailed calculation of incoherent $J/eta$ electroproduction including rescattering, assessing the potential to measure the scattering amplitude at lower energies.
Findings
Determining the scattering length is unlikely with current theoretical predictions.
Measuring the scattering amplitude at lower energies than previous experiments may be feasible.
Rescattering effects significantly influence the electroproduction process.
Abstract
Calculations are presented for incoherent electroproduction from the deuteron at JLab energies, including the effects of -nucleon rescattering in the final state, in order to determine the feasibility of measuring the -nucleon scattering length, or the -nucleon scattering amplitude at lower relative energies than in previous measurements. It is shown that for a scattering length of the size predicted by existing theoretical calculations, it would not be possible to determine the scattering length. However, it may be possible to determine the scattering amplitude at significantly lower relative energies than the only previous measurements.
