Compactification of spacetime in SU($\infty$) Yang-Mills theory
Kiyoshi Shiraishi

TL;DR
This paper explores the effects of spacetime compactification on a torus in SU(∞) Yang-Mills theory, analyzing gauge field configurations, vacuum energy, and symmetry breaking with fermions.
Contribution
It introduces a specific gauge field configuration on a torus in SU(∞) Yang-Mills theory and derives related vacuum and free energies, investigating symmetry breaking mechanisms.
Findings
Derived vacuum and free energies in the compactified theory
Identified conditions for symmetry breaking with fermions
Analyzed gauge field configurations on a torus
Abstract
The compactification on a torus in Yang-Mills theory is considered. A special form of the configuration of a gauge field on a torus is examined. The vacuum energy and free energy in the presence of fermions coupled with this background in the theory are derived and possible symmetry breaking is investigated.
