Estimation of the Galactic Spiral Pattern Speed from Cepheids
V.V. Bobylev, A.T. Bajkova

TL;DR
This study analyzes the space velocities of Galactic Cepheids to estimate the spiral pattern speed and other parameters of the Milky Way's spiral structure, providing new insights into Galactic dynamics and spiral density wave characteristics.
Contribution
The paper introduces a method to determine the Galactic spiral pattern speed using Cepheid velocities and analyzes phase shifts to refine the pattern's properties.
Findings
Estimated spiral pattern speed difference ||=92 km s kpc
Determined the pitch angle of the spiral arms as -4.50
Estimated the gravitational force ratio of spiral arms as 0.04
Abstract
To study the peculiarities of the Galactic spiral density wave, we have analyzed the space velocities of Galactic Cepheids with proper motions from the Hipparcos catalog and line-of-sight velocities from various sources. First, based on the entire sample of 185 stars and taking kpc, we have found the components of the peculiar solar velocity km s, the angular velocity of Galactic rotation km s kpc and its derivatives km s kpc and km s kpc, the amplitudes of the velocity perturbations in the spiral density wave and km s, the pitch angle of a two-armed spiral pattern (m = 2) (which corresponds to a wavelength…
