Study of the reaction e^{+}e^{-}->psi(2S)pi^{-}pi^{-} via initial state radiation at BaBar
The BABAR Collaboration

TL;DR
This study investigates the e+e- to psi(2S) pi+ pi- process via initial state radiation at BaBar, revealing two resonant structures with specific masses and widths, contributing to understanding charmonium-like states.
Contribution
First measurement of the e+e- to psi(2S) pi+ pi- cross section dependence near resonances, identifying two new resonant structures with detailed mass and width parameters.
Findings
Evidence of two resonant structures in the mass distribution.
Measured masses and widths of the two resonances.
Observed pi+ pi- mass distributions in resonant regions.
Abstract
We study the process with initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy collider. The data were recorded with the \BaBar detector at center-of-mass energies at and near the (n = 2, 3, 4) resonances and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 520. We investigate the mass distribution from 3.95 to 5.95 , and measure the center-of-mass energy dependence of the associated cross section. The mass distribution exhibits evidence of two resonant structures. A fit to the mass distribution corresponding to the decay mode yields a mass value of (stat) (syst) 94 \pm 32\pm 13$ (syst) MeV for the first…
