The role of the angular momentum of light in Mie scattering. Excitation of dielectric spheres with Laguerre-Gaussian modes
Xavier Zambrana-Puyalto, Gabriel Molina-Terriza

TL;DR
This paper introduces a method to control and enhance ripple structures in the scattered electromagnetic field by using Laguerre-Gaussian beams to excite dielectric spheres, enabling tunable scattering features.
Contribution
The study demonstrates how Laguerre-Gaussian modes can be used to manipulate the ripple structure in Mie scattering, offering new control over scattering properties.
Findings
Ripple structures can be enhanced using Laguerre-Gaussian beams.
Ripple positions and linewidths are tunable via beam and sphere parameters.
The method allows precise control of scattering features in the visible range.
Abstract
We present a method to enhance the ripple structure of the scattered electromagnetic field in the visible range through the use of Laguerre-Gaussian beams. The position of these enhanced ripples as well as their linewidths can be controlled using different optical beams and sizes of the spheres.
