Nan Chen, Wen-Xue Du, Yi-Zheng Fan

TL;DR
This paper derives an explicit formula for calculating the Wiener polarity index of cactus graphs, a measure based on vertex pairs at distance three, and provides specialized formulas for certain subclasses.
Contribution
It introduces a new explicit formula for the Wiener polarity index specific to cactus graphs, enhancing understanding of their structural properties.
Findings
Derived an explicit formula for the Wiener polarity index of cactus graphs
Provided formulas for specific subclasses of cactus graphs
Facilitated easier computation of the index in practical applications
Abstract
The Wiener polarity index of a graph G is the number of unordered pairs of vertices u, v such that the distance between u and v is 3. In this paper we give an explicit formula for the Wiener polarity index of cactus graphs. We also deduce formulas for some special cactus graphs.
