Transitions in rapidly rotating convection driven dynamos
A. Tilgner

TL;DR
This paper investigates dynamo mechanisms in rapidly rotating convection, revealing two distinct dynamo types with different magnetic field scaling laws and identifying a transition within a hydrodynamically uniform regime.
Contribution
It identifies and characterizes two different dynamo regimes and the transition point within rapidly rotating convection through numerical simulations.
Findings
Two dynamo types with distinct magnetic scaling laws
Transition occurs within a hydrodynamically uniform regime
Numerical simulations support the existence of these regimes
Abstract
Numerical simulations of dynamos in rotating Rayleigh-B\'enard convection in plane layers are presented. Two different types of dynamos exist which obey different scaling laws for the amplitude of the magnetic field. The transition between the two occurs within a hydrodynamically uniform regime which can be classified as rapidly rotating convection.
