TL;DR
This paper investigates the production of the stable H dibaryon via the (K^-,K^+) reaction on a carbon-12 target using a covariant effective Lagrangian model, providing cross-section estimates and energy spectra.
Contribution
It introduces a covariant effective Lagrangian model for H dibaryon production on a $^{12}$C target, with detailed resonance and quark model calculations, improving previous estimates.
Findings
H production cross-section ~2.9 μb/sr at 1.67 GeV/c beam momentum
H production cross-section is an order of magnitude larger than previous $^3$He-based calculations
Calculated energy spectrum of emitted K^+ mesons
Abstract
We study the production of the stable six-quark dibaryon via the reaction on a C target within a covariant effective Lagrangian model. The calculations are performed within a factorization approximation, in which the full production amplitude is written as a product of the amplitudes for the and processes. The production vertex is described by excitation, propagation and decay of and resonance states in the initial collision of a meson with a target proton in the incident channel. The parameters of the resonance vertices are taken to be the same as those determined previously by describing the available data on total and differential cross sections for the reaction within a similar model. The fusion process is treated within a quark model where the…
