Theoretical estimate of the $D^* \to D\pi$ decay rate
Damir Becirevic, Francesco Sanfilippo

TL;DR
This paper reports a lattice QCD calculation of the $D^* o D ext{pi}$ decay coupling, providing a continuum limit estimate that aligns with experimental decay widths of the charged $D^*$ meson.
Contribution
First lattice QCD study to compute the $g_{D^* D ext{pi}}$ coupling with continuum extrapolation using twisted mass QCD and $N_f=2$ dynamical quarks.
Findings
Computed $g_c=0.53(3)(3)$ coupling value.
Predicted decay width $ ext{Gamma}(D^{*+} o ar{D}^0 ext{pi}^+)= (50 extpm 5 extpm 6)$ keV.
Results agree with experimental measurements.
Abstract
We present the results of our lattice QCD study of the coupling, relevant to the decay. Our computation is made on the gauge field configurations that include dynamical light quarks by using the twisted mass QCD action. From the results obtained at four different lattice spacings we were able to take for the first time the continuum limit of this quantity computed on the lattice. Our final value, , leads to keV, and is in good agreement with the experimental results for the width of the charged -meson.
