TL;DR
This paper investigates the magnetic properties of Tb3Ga5O12 by measuring susceptibility and ESR, comparing results with crystal field theory calculations, and analyzing magnetization along different crystal axes.
Contribution
It provides a detailed experimental and theoretical analysis of the magnetic behavior of TGG, including ESR, susceptibility, and magnetization calculations for various directions.
Findings
Good agreement between experimental data and crystal field theory calculations.
Identification of ESR transitions specific to Tb ions in TGG.
Magnetization behavior varies with crystal orientation, matching theoretical predictions.
Abstract
We report on the measurement of the magnetic susceptibility and of ESR transitions in the garnet substance TbGaO (TGG). The results are compared with a calculation in the framework of crystal field theory for the orthorhombic surroundings of the six inequivalent Tb ions of TGG. We also present a calculation of the magnetization for the three main crystal directions.
