Non Abelian orbifold compactifications of the heterotic string
Sebastian J. H. Konopka

TL;DR
This paper explores heterotic string models with non-Abelian orbifold compactifications, specifically constructing an explicit S_3-based model that demonstrates gauge group rank reduction directly within string theory.
Contribution
It introduces a novel heterotic orbifold model with non-Abelian point group and explicitly shows gauge symmetry reduction at the string level.
Findings
Constructed an S_3 orbifold model with specific spectrum
Demonstrated rank reduction of the gauge group within string theory
Calculated the spectrum and symmetries of the model
Abstract
I consider the construction of heterotic orbifold models based on a toroidal orbifold with non Abelian point group. I construct an explicit model based on the point group and calculate the spectrum and remnant symmetries. This model provides a simple example of rank reduction of the Yang--Mills gauge group directly in the string theory rather than in the effective field theory.
