Measurement of the $B_c^{-}$ meson lifetime in the decay $B_{c}^{-} \rightarrow J/\psi~\pi^{-}$
CDF Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports the first fully reconstructed hadronic channel measurement of the $B_c^{-}$ meson lifetime using proton-antiproton collision data, achieving results consistent with previous measurements and demonstrating the detector's capabilities.
Contribution
It provides the first measurement of the $B_c^{-}$ meson lifetime in a fully reconstructed hadronic decay channel, confirming previous results with comparable precision.
Findings
Measured $B_c^{-}$ lifetime as 0.452 ps with uncertainties
First fully reconstructed hadronic decay channel measurement
Results agree with previous lifetime measurements
Abstract
The lifetime of the meson is measured using 272 exclusive decays reconstructed in data from proton-antiproton collisions corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 6.7 fb recorded by the CDF II detector at the Fermilab Tevatron. The lifetime of the meson is measured to be () = 0.452 0.048(stat) 0.027(syst) ps. This is the first measurement of the meson lifetime in a fully-reconstructed hadronic channel, and it agrees with previous results and has comparable precision.
