Ch. Elster, A. Orazbayev, S. P. Weppner

TL;DR
This paper develops a microscopic folding optical potential model for elastic scattering of helium-6 off protons, explicitly including interactions of valence neutrons, and calculates differential cross sections and analyzing powers.
Contribution
It introduces a comprehensive model that accounts for valence neutron interactions, improving upon previous simpler approaches.
Findings
Accurate differential cross sections for $^6$He scattering are obtained.
The model successfully incorporates valence neutron contributions.
Results show improved agreement with experimental data.
Abstract
The differential cross section and the analyzing power are calculated for elastic scattering of He from a proton target using a microscopic folding optical potential, in which the He nucleus is described in terms of a He-core with two additional neutrons in the valence p-shell. In contrast to previous work of that nature, all contributions from the interaction of the valence neutrons with the target protons are taken into account.
