Multi-Periodic Oscillations in Cepheids and RR Lyrae-Type Stars
P. Moskalik

TL;DR
This paper reviews the complex multi-periodic oscillations observed in Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars, including phenomena like the Blazhko effect and multi-mode pulsations, challenging the traditional view of these stars as purely radial pulsators.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive overview of the different types of multi-periodic oscillations observed in Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars, highlighting their diversity and significance.
Findings
Identification of various multi-mode oscillations
Discussion of the Blazhko effect in detail
Challenges to the traditional pulsation models
Abstract
Classical Cepheids and RR Lyrae-type stars are usually considered to be textbook examples of purely radial, strictly periodic pulsators. Not all the variables, however, conform to this simple picture. In this review I discuss different forms of multi-periodicity observed in Cepheids and RR Lyrae stars, including Blazhko effect and various types of radial and nonradial multi-mode oscillations.
