D$_{s}^+$ meson production at central rapidity in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 7 TeV
ALICE Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper reports the measurement of D_s^+ meson production cross sections in proton-proton collisions at 7 TeV, comparing results with QCD models and analyzing charm fragmentation and strangeness suppression.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed measurement of D_s^+ production at LHC energies and compares the cross sections and fragmentation ratios with other experimental data and theoretical predictions.
Findings
Measured D_s^+ cross sections in p-p collisions at 7 TeV.
Found compatibility of charm fragmentation ratios with other experiments.
Provided data on strangeness suppression factor in charm fragmentation.
Abstract
The -differential inclusive production cross section of the prompt charm-strange meson in the rapidity range was measured in proton-proton collisions at TeV at the LHC using the ALICE detector. The analysis was performed on a data sample of events collected with a minimum-bias trigger. The corresponding integrated luminosity is /nb. Reconstructing the decay , with , and its charge conjugate, about 480 mesons were counted, after selection cuts, in the transverse momentum range Gev/. The results are compared with predictions from models based on perturbative QCD. The ratios of the cross sections of four D meson species (namely , , and ) were determined both as a…
