TL;DR
This paper shows that boundary conditions significantly influence quantum escape phenomena, potentially halting escape entirely, with exact results applicable to many particles, highlighting an often overlooked factor in quantum dynamics.
Contribution
It reveals the critical impact of boundary conditions on quantum escape, demonstrating their potential to suppress escape completely, extending understanding beyond quantum statistics.
Findings
Boundary conditions can suppress quantum escape entirely.
Results are exact and applicable to many particles.
Boundary effects are as crucial as quantum statistics.
Abstract
It has recently been established that quantum statistics can play a crucial role in quantum escape. Here we demonstrate that boundary conditions can be equally important - moreover, in certain cases, may lead to a complete suppression of the escape. Our results are exact and hold for arbitrarily many particles.
