Bound state in continuum like solutions in one-dimensional hetero-structures
O. Panella, P. Roy

TL;DR
This paper explores how specific velocity profiles in a one-dimensional Dirac equation can generate bound states in the continuum and discrete bound states, expanding understanding of quantum states in heterostructures.
Contribution
It demonstrates the possibility of creating BIC-like and discrete bound states through tailored velocity profiles in 1D Dirac systems, a novel approach in quantum heterostructures.
Findings
Velocity profiles can induce BIC-like states.
Discrete bound states are achievable with certain velocity modulations.
Potential applications in quantum device engineering.
Abstract
We examine the one dimensional Dirac equation with modulated or position dependent velocity. In particular, it is shown that using suitable velocity profiles it is possible to create bound state in continuum (BIC) like, as well as, discrete energy bound state solutions.
