Energy-efficient traffic engineering for future core networks
George Athanasiou

TL;DR
This paper introduces a general formulation and a distributed heuristic algorithm for energy-efficient traffic engineering in future core networks, aiming to optimize throughput and reduce energy consumption.
Contribution
It presents a novel problem formulation and a distributed heuristic algorithm that jointly balances load and enhances energy efficiency in core networks.
Findings
The heuristic approaches optimal network operation in throughput and energy use.
The proposed method effectively balances load while reducing energy consumption.
The approach demonstrates potential for scalable energy-efficient network management.
Abstract
A general problem formulation for energy-efficient traffic engineering for future core networks is presented. Moreover, a distributed heuristic algorithm that provides jointly load balancing and energy efficiency is proposed, approaching in this way the optimal network operation in terms of throughput and energy consumption.
