Physical Wigner functions
Carlos L. Benavides-Riveros, Jos\'e M. Gracia-Bond\'ia

TL;DR
This paper revisits and reformulates the characterization of Wigner functions for Bose and Fermi statistics to enhance their applicability, especially in quantum chemistry, addressing a neglected area of quantum phase space analysis.
Contribution
It provides a new, more convenient formulation of Wigner functions for Bose and Fermi systems, building on earlier foundational work from O'Connell and Wigner.
Findings
Reformulated Wigner functions for Bose and Fermi statistics
Enhanced applicability for quantum chemistry applications
Clarified the mathematical structure of quantum phase space representations
Abstract
In spite of their potential usefulness, the characterizations of Wigner functions for Bose and Fermi statistics given by O'Connell and Wigner himself almost thirty years ago has drawn little attention. With an eye towards applications in quantum chemistry, we revisit and reformulate them in a more convenient way.
