On Determining the Running Coupling from the Effective Action
D. G. C. McKeon, A. Patrushev

TL;DR
This paper derives a new expansion for the running coupling in gauge theories by utilizing the conformal anomaly's expression for the effective action under strong background fields.
Contribution
It introduces a novel expansion method for the running coupling based on the conformal anomaly and effective action analysis.
Findings
Derived a new expansion for the running coupling.
Connected the effective action with the conformal anomaly.
Provided insights into gauge theory behavior under strong fields.
Abstract
The conformal anomaly has provided an expression for the effective action of gauge theories in the presence of a strong background field in terms of the running coupling constant. We exploit this result to find a novel expansion for the running coupling.
