TL;DR
This paper investigates the open charm effects in the process e+e- to J/psi pi0, predicting a narrow enhancement near the D D* thresholds, which sheds light on the nature of X(3900) and related phenomena.
Contribution
It provides a model-independent prediction of a narrow enhancement near open charm thresholds and clarifies the role of open charm effects in understanding X(3900) and the rho-pi puzzle.
Findings
Predicted a narrow enhancement between D0 D*0 and D+ D*- thresholds.
Highlighted the significance of open charm effects in X(3900) interpretation.
Offered insights into the rho-pi puzzle through open charm dynamics.
Abstract
We identify open charm effects in a direct production process . A unique feature of this process is that the threshold is located at a relatively isolated energy region, i.e. , which is far away from the well-established charmonia and . Therefore, the cross section line-shape of this reaction provides an opportunity for singling out the open charm effects. A model-independent narrow enhancement between the thresholds of and is predicted. This study can also help understand the X(3900) enhancement recently observed by the Belle and BaBar Collaboration in We also show that the open charm effects play a crucial role for our understanding of the long-standing " puzzle".
