TL;DR
This study measures the production of the $^{++}(1232)$ isobar in neutrino interactions with protons and neutrons, revealing production mechanisms and comparing results with theoretical models.
Contribution
First measurement of $^{++}(1232)$ yields in neutrino-proton and neutrino-neutron interactions, providing new insights into production mechanisms and model validation.
Findings
$^{++}(1232)$ production mainly from neutrino scattering on valence d-quark.
Yield in $ u p$ interactions matches hadronic interaction data.
Yield in $ u n$ interactions is significantly suppressed.
Abstract
For the first time, the total yield and inclusive spectra of the isobar are measured in and charged-current interactions. An indication is obtained that the production mainly results from the neutrino scattering on the valence d- quark of the target nucleon. The total yield of in interactions is compatible with that measured in hadronic interactions of the same net charge and net baryonic number. The yield of in interactions is significantly suppressed as compared to the case of the proton target. The form of the squared transverse momentum distributions, both in and interactions, is found to be compatible with the available data on the neutrinoproduction of hyperon. The experimental data are compared with the LEPTO6.5 model predictions.
