TL;DR
This paper provides an accessible introduction to geometric mechanics, emphasizing its intuitive understanding and relevance to classical mechanics for a broader audience.
Contribution
It offers a simplified, intuitive overview of geometric mechanics aimed at making the subject more accessible beyond specialized mathematical circles.
Findings
Clarifies the fundamental concepts of geometric mechanics.
Highlights the importance of geometric perspectives in understanding mechanics.
Bridges the gap between mathematical formalism and physical intuition.
Abstract
Geometric mechanics is usually studied in applied mathematics and most introductory texts are hence aimed at a mathematically minded audience. The present note tries to provide the intuition of geometric mechanics and to show the relevance of the subject for an understanding of "mechanics".
