A.V.Bobrov, A.E.Bondar

TL;DR
This study evaluates the potential of the Super c-tau factory to detect the rare decay tau to mu gamma by analyzing background processes and proposing selection criteria, demonstrating its competitiveness with Super B-factory.
Contribution
It provides a Monte Carlo analysis of background suppression strategies and detector requirements for tau to mu gamma decay search at the Super c-tau factory, a novel assessment for this facility.
Findings
Background processes from tau pair events can be effectively suppressed.
Necessary detector characteristics for successful decay search are identified.
Super c-tau factory can compete with Super B-factory in tau to mu gamma decay detection.
Abstract
A Monte Carlo study of possible background processes in a search for decay has been performed for conditions of the Super factory (CTF) (at a center-of-mass energy 3.686 GeV, 3.77 GeV and 4.17 GeV). The background from events has been analysed. Selection criteria for background suppression are suggested and necessary requirements on the detector characteristics have been found. The CTF can successfully compete with the Super B-factory in a search for decay.
