Pairing: from atomic nuclei to neutron-star crusts
N. Chamel, J.M. Pearson, S. Goriely

TL;DR
This paper explores nuclear pairing phenomena in atomic nuclei and neutron-star crusts using a unified energy-density functional approach based on Skyrme functionals and microscopic pairing calculations.
Contribution
It introduces a unified framework combining Skyrme energy-density functionals with microscopic pairing functionals for nuclear and neutron-star matter.
Findings
Consistent description of nuclear pairing across different systems
Development of a local pairing functional from many-body calculations
Insights into the role of pairing in neutron-star crusts
Abstract
Nuclear pairing is studied both in atomic nuclei and in neutron-star crusts in the unified framework of the energy-density functional theory using generalized Skyrme functionals complemented with a local pairing functional obtained from many-body calculations in homogeneous nuclear matter using realistic forces.
