Cong-Feng Qiao, Li-Ping Sun

TL;DR
This paper analyzes $J/$ pair production at the Tevatron, comparing color-singlet and octet mechanisms, and finds measurable differences in their transverse momentum behaviors, suggesting the Tevatron can test quarkonium production models.
Contribution
It provides a detailed comparison of color-singlet and octet production mechanisms for $J/$ pairs at the Tevatron, highlighting their distinct $p_T$ scaling behaviors and experimental measurability.
Findings
Color-singlet and octet mechanisms show distinct $p_T$ scaling behaviors.
$J/$ pair events are measurable at the Tevatron with current luminosity.
Tevatron can serve as a platform to test heavy quarkonium production mechanisms.
Abstract
We revisit the pair production issue at the Fermilab Tevatron Run II with the center-of-mass energy . Both color-singlet and -octet production mechanisms are considered. Our result shows that the transverse momentum() scaling behaviors of double differential cross sections in color-singlet and -octet deviate distinctively from each other while is larger than , and with the luminosity of the pair events from color-singlet scheme are substantially measurable in Tevatron experiments, even with certain lower transverse momentum cut. Hence the Tevatron is still possibly a platform to check the heavy quarkonium production mechanism.
