Vyacheslav Shatokhin, Thomas Wellens, and Andreas Buchleitner

TL;DR
This paper introduces a diagrammatic method to analyze the coherent backscattering of laser light by cold atoms, focusing on double scattering, and offers a physical interpretation of the underlying single-atom responses.
Contribution
It presents a novel diagrammatic derivation of the backscattering spectrum using the pump-probe approach, emphasizing the physical interpretation of single-atom contributions.
Findings
Derivation of the backscattering spectrum from two atoms.
Physical interpretation of single-atom response blocks.
Revisiting double scattering with a new diagrammatic perspective.
Abstract
We present a diagrammatic derivation of the coherent backscattering spectrum from two two-level atoms using the pump-probe approach, wherein the multiple scattering signal is deduced from single-atom responses, and provide a physical interpretation of the single-atom building blocks.
