TL;DR
This paper reports a search for scalar bottom quarks and third-generation leptoquarks in proton-antiproton collisions, setting mass limits based on data from the D0 experiment at Fermilab.
Contribution
First search to set mass limits on scalar bottom quarks and third-generation leptoquarks using Tevatron data with specific decay assumptions.
Findings
Lower mass limits of 247 GeV for sbottoms and leptoquarks.
Excluded certain mass ranges at 95% confidence level.
Provided constraints on new physics models involving these particles.
Abstract
We present the results of a search for pair production of scalar bottom quarks () and scalar third-generation leptoquarks () in a data sample of 5.2 collected by the D0 experiment at the Tevatron, the collider at Fermilab. We assume that sbottoms decay to a neutralino () and a b quark, and we set 95% C.L. lower limits on their production in the (, ) mass plane such that GeV for and GeV for GeV. The leptoquarks are assumed to decay to a tau neutrino and a b quark, and we set a 95% C.L. lower limit of 247 GeV on the mass of a charge-1/3 third-generation leptoquark.
