TL;DR
This paper investigates the double spin asymmetry in direct photon production using collinear twist-3 theory, aiming to provide insights into nucleon spin structure relevant for experiments like RHIC.
Contribution
It introduces a comprehensive analysis of the $A_{LT}$ asymmetry incorporating all relevant collinear twist-3 correlation functions for the first time.
Findings
Provides theoretical framework for $A_{LT}$ in direct photon production.
Highlights the role of twist-3 correlations in spin asymmetries.
Lays groundwork for experimental measurements at RHIC.
Abstract
We study the longitudinal-transverse double spin asymmetry for direct photon production in nucleon-nucleon scattering by using the collinear twist-3 approach. This asymmetry, which, for instance, could be measured at RHIC, contains a complete set of collinear twist-3 correlation functions in a transversely polarized nucleon.
