Optimal control strategies for tuberculosis treatment: a case study in Angola
Cristiana J. Silva, Delfim F. M. Torres

TL;DR
This paper applies optimal control theory to a tuberculosis model using Angola data, proposing strategies to minimize intervention costs and demonstrating their effectiveness through numerical simulations.
Contribution
It introduces a novel application of optimal control to TB treatment in Angola, optimizing intervention strategies based on a differential equation model.
Findings
Optimal control strategies reduce intervention costs.
Numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of proposed strategies.
Model tailored to Angola's TB data.
Abstract
We apply optimal control theory to a tuberculosis model given by a system of ordinary differential equations. Optimal control strategies are proposed to minimize the cost of interventions. Numerical simulations are given using data from Angola.
