Ambient betatron motion and its excitation by ghost lines in Tevatron
Vladimir Shiltsev, Giulio Stancari, Alexander Valishev (Fermilab)

TL;DR
This paper investigates the transverse betatron motion of the Tevatron proton beam, revealing that it is coherently excited by external sources and highlighting the presence of time-varying ghost lines in the spectra.
Contribution
It provides the first detailed analysis of ghost lines and their impact on beam stability in the Tevatron.
Findings
Betatron motion is coherent and externally excited.
Ghost lines in spectra are time-varying.
External sources of excitation are of unknown origin.
Abstract
Transverse betatron motion of the Tevatron proton beam is measured and analyzed. It is shown that the motion is coherent and excited by external sources of unknown origins. Observations of the time varying ghost lines in the betatron spectra are reported.
