TL;DR
This paper presents initial experimental results from testing the CALICE DHCAL prototype with hadron and positron beams, validating its performance for particle detection in high-energy physics.
Contribution
First validation of the DHCAL concept through beam tests with positron and pion events at 2-60 GeV/c.
Findings
Successful detection of positron and pion events
Preliminary results support DHCAL's effectiveness
Data aligns with expected calorimeter performance
Abstract
The Digital Hadron Calorimeter (DHCAL) 1m3 physics prototype was constructed and has been tested in particle beams. We report the preliminary results from the analysis of both positon and pion events of momenta between 2 and 60 GeV/c. These results are considered as a first validation of the DHCAL concept.
