Chabin Ch. Thakuria, K. Boruah

TL;DR
This study compares two hadronic interaction models, EPOS and QGSJET-II, in simulating extensive air showers across a wide energy range, analyzing various EAS parameters to evaluate their differences and implications.
Contribution
It provides a detailed comparison of EPOS 1.99 and QGSJET II-03 models in EAS simulation using CORSIKA, highlighting differences in multiple shower parameters.
Findings
Differences observed in depth of shower maximum.
Variations in muon and electron distributions.
Discrepancies in hadron energy spectra.
Abstract
In this work we compare the predictions of two representative hadronic interaction models, EPOS 1.99, and QGSJET II-03 with several extensive air showers (EAS) parameters for proton and iron primaries in the energy range - using CORSIKA-6990. The EAS parameters depth of shower maximum, shower size, size of muon shower, muon number distribution, electron number distribution, size of hadron shower, hadron energy sum, electron muon correlations, and, hadron energy spectra are studied in this paper.
