TL;DR
This paper addresses minimizing the total transmission time for data packets over an energy harvesting fading channel by developing an optimal offline scheduling method that accounts for packet arrivals during transmission.
Contribution
It extends existing models to include packet arrivals during transmission and proposes a method for optimal power and rate allocation in this scenario.
Findings
Developed an optimal offline scheduling algorithm.
Extended the model to include packet arrivals during transmission.
Provided insights into energy-efficient data transmission strategies.
Abstract
The offline problem of transmission completion time minimization for an energy harvesting transmitter under fading is extended to allow packet arrivals during transmission. A method for computing an optimal power and rate allocation (i.e., an optimal offline schedule) is developed and studied.
