Maja Mackowiak-Pawlowska (for the NA49 Collaboration)

TL;DR
This paper presents new fluctuation analysis results from NA49 at CERN SPS, exploring signals related to the phase transition and critical endpoint in the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter.
Contribution
It provides novel fluctuation measurements and discusses their implications for the onset of deconfinement and the critical endpoint in heavy ion collisions.
Findings
Observation of fluctuation patterns related to phase transition signals
Evidence supporting the onset of deconfinement
Insights into the critical endpoint region
Abstract
The exploration of the phase diagram of strongly interacting matter, particularly the study of the phase transition from hadronic to partonic matter and the search for a hypothetical critical endpoint of the first order transition line, is one of the most challenging tasks in present heavy ion physics. In this talk new results on chemical (particle ratio), transverse momentum, multiplicity and azimuthal angle fluctuations will be presented. We also discuss their connection to the onset of deconfinement and to the critical endpoint.
