Non-perturbative gauge couplings from holography
Marco Billo, Marialuisa Frau, Luca Giacone, Alberto Lerda

TL;DR
This paper demonstrates how D-instanton effects alter the dilaton-axion profile in F-theory, leading to a non-singular background that reflects the effective gauge coupling on a D3 probe.
Contribution
It introduces a non-perturbative approach to compute gauge couplings via holography by incorporating D-instanton corrections into F-theory backgrounds.
Findings
D-instanton corrections smooth out singularities in the dilaton-axion profile.
The modified profile accurately represents the effective gauge coupling on a D3 probe.
The approach provides a non-perturbative holographic method for gauge coupling calculations.
Abstract
We show how D-instanton corrections modify the dilaton-axion profile emitted by an O7/D7 system turning it into the non-singular F-theory background which corresponds to the effective coupling on a D3 probe.
