Gouy phase for full-aperture spherical and cylindrical waves
Tomas Tyc

TL;DR
This paper explores the Gouy phase shift in full-aperture spherical and cylindrical waves, revealing its impact on pulse shaping and providing a clear interpretation of the phase in these scenarios.
Contribution
It offers a new simple interpretation of the Gouy phase for full-aperture waves in 2D and 3D, highlighting its effects on localized pulse reshaping.
Findings
Gouy phase significantly affects pulse shape in full-aperture wave convergence.
A simple interpretation of Gouy phase in spherical and cylindrical waves is provided.
The phase has a dramatic impact on sharply localized pulses.
Abstract
We investigate the Gouy phase shift for full-aperture waves converging to a focal point from all directions in two and three dimensions. We find a simple interpretation for the Gouy phase in this situation and show that it has a dramatic effect on reshaping sharply localized pulses.
