TL;DR
This review summarizes the current understanding of the physical mechanisms responsible for exciting pulsations in stars with surface convection zones, including cooler stars like Delta Scuti and solar-like oscillators.
Contribution
It provides a comprehensive overview of the physical processes behind stellar pulsation excitation in stars with surface convection zones.
Findings
Identification of key physical mechanisms driving pulsations
Summary of excitation processes in Delta Scuti and solar-like stars
Current models explaining stellar pulsation excitation
Abstract
In this review I present an overview of our current understanding of the physical mechanisms that are responsible for the excitation of pulsations in stars with surface convection zones. These are typically cooler stars such as the Delta Scuti stars, and stars supporting solar-like oscillations.
