TL;DR
This paper discusses the potential nonassociative structure of string coordinates revealed through conformal field theory analysis in flux backgrounds, highlighting a novel mathematical aspect of string theory.
Contribution
It introduces the idea of nonassociativity in string coordinates based on recent conformal field theory studies in flux backgrounds.
Findings
Indicates a nonassociative structure for string coordinates.
Analyzes closed strings in geometric and nongeometric flux backgrounds.
Suggests new mathematical frameworks for string theory.
Abstract
I summarize some of the ideas and motivations behind a recently performed conformal field theory analysis of closed strings in both geometric and nongeometric three-form flux backgrounds. This suggests an underlying nonassociative structure for the coordinates.
