Search for universal extra dimensions in ppbar collisions
D0 Collaboration

TL;DR
This paper searches for Kaluza-Klein particles predicted by universal extra dimension models in proton-antiproton collisions, setting a lower limit on the compactification scale based on muon charge signatures.
Contribution
First search for KK particles in ppbar collisions using same-charge muon pairs, establishing new lower bounds on the UED model parameters.
Findings
Lower limit on compactification scale: R^{-1} > 260 GeV
No evidence of KK particles observed
Constraints improve previous bounds on UED models
Abstract
We present a search for Kaluza-Klein (KK) particles predicted by models with universal extra dimensions (UED) using a data set corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.3 fb, collected by the D0 detector at a center of mass energy of 1.96 TeV. The decay chain of KK particles can lead to a final state with two muons of the same charge. This signature is used to set a lower limit on the compactification scale of GeV in a minimal UED model.
